About South Coast News
South Coast News is a regional publication for the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast of South Africa: Margate, Port Shepstone, Uvongo, Ramsgate, Shelly Beach, Port Edward and the towns in between. The site started as a home for local clips and reports and now publishes practical guides for residents and visitors.
What we publish
- Places: reserves, gorges, beaches and day trips, with the checks to make before you go.
- Ocean: diving, surf, the sardine run and beach safety.
- Coast Life: councils, services and moving to the coast.
- South Africa: national rules and services explained plainly.
- Sport: how the competitions and events work.
How the guides are checked
Every guide lists the official and published sources it relies on. Prices, tariffs and timetables change, so the guides say where to confirm the current figure instead of repeating numbers that go out of date.
Photographs
Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences. The author and the licence are printed under each image.

Some pages are supplied by partners and published as submitted. They are labelled Partner content and collected on one page.
